outdoor ed

so maybe you ask what's next in life for this fella. well as i posted before, i really loved teaching outdoor education. so, i've been in contact with a privately owned camp in colorado where i plan to teach outdoor ed. this spring. i have a phone interview with them on thursday and if everything goes well i'll be starting in mid march. i'm excited. it gives me a good reason not to be in the midwest in the spring when that one plant - whatever it is - pollinates and almost kills me every year.

the outdoor ed. gig will last me 2ish months and then... who really knows?? actually, i've applied for over 25 jobs with the National Parks service and National Forest service. mostly i applied to be a wild land forest fire fighter, but i also applied for trail maintenance positions. i applied for places like yosemite NP, glacier NP, pretty much anything in the northern rocky mountains, and even alaska. i guess its now a waiting game to see what i'm accepted for. i don't really have any experience doing any of that stuff, but hey it's worth a shot to do something wild and new, right?

in the mean time, it snowed here last week and it was quite beautiful! the picture to the right and the one below are a snippet of my work, but check http://www.flickr.com/photos/aclark_photography/ for more of the shots i took of the winter wonderland.

!

hey there folks! well i'm glad to announce that this weekend i feel like i really got my foot in the door with photography. my pal alec (alecvanderboom.com) was gracious enough to let me shadow him whilst shooting a wedding. i took my camera along and shot some pictures and i'm really happy with the results. i've included a couple of shots to give you an idea. anyhoo, i'd like to get more experience. so, if you'd like some pictures done i'd be up for the challenge. to see more of my work, go to http://www.flickr.com/photos/aclark_photography/

happn'ns

hey there. so i've been getting lots of practice in on taking photos. i'm not so sure it's something i want to do for a living, but it's a fun side gig. who knows, maybe i'll make some money on the side someday. i guess i could practice some by offering that service to people... wanna be a model? haha.

i'll post a couple of photos on the blog here and a link to my photobucket (http://s1118.photobucket.com/home/airclark1)

so at the moment i'm unemployed. it's enjoyable. i'm looking into getting a job with the national park system or national forest system. i'm looking to maybe get a start by fighting forest fires for the summer. it sounds like a bit of an adventure and a good step into the park service.

i'm planning to post more picture on here and on my photobucket, so keep lookin!

a lil update thingy

hey there the 4 of you that occasionally check this out. congrats for looking at this more than i type on it...hopefully somebody is reading this..

well i just finished a season of teaching outdoor education to 6th graders in the glorious mountains of colorado. i don't think i have ever enjoyed a job more than i enjoyed this one. i am on a quest to see where else i might be able to teach outdoor ed and thus learn about new eco systems and animals! give me a suggestion if you have one! anyhow, i took several hundred pictures in my free time over the last 3 months. i decided that i should start an online viewing gallery for my pics so that others can enjoy them. check the site at: http://s1118.photobucket.com/home/airclark1. i recently took a trip to yellowstone national park so be on the lookout for some pics from there!

i'm in colorado and my heart is smiling

a few things have changed since my last post. at that time, i planned to drive west and just see what i stumbled upon. earlier in the summer i had applied for a job at a YMCA in colorado. i had not heard back from the Y and had assumed that they weren't going to hire me. i got an email in early august that informed me that i'd been hired. so, i'm in colorado teaching sixth graders about the mountains, the environment and the animals therein. i really like it so far! i love the mountains and the adventure that lies in wait.

speaking of adventure: today i watched a small forest fire turn into a frantic 3000 acre blaze. the blaze started shortly after 10am. i took these attached pictures around 11am, at which point the fire had covered around 200 acres. by 6pm it was reported to have covered 3000 acres. it was very windy on the mountains today, with gusts up to 45mph. thankfully for me the wind was not pushing the fire toward the YMCA, but there are several homes that have been destroyed. i haven't heard of any deaths.

changes

welp. i haven't been on here in a bit.

i've been living in branson for a year and a half since africa. i've been working to pay off student loans. by this time next month, the loans will be done and done... which allows me to be done and done with branson. i am elated.

i plan to head west. i guess colorado is in my sights, but i may not stop there. i'm kinda just in search of whatever is next, and west is the best.

should be an adventure!

Back in the US, and looking for the Next...

Well friends, I am back from Africa.  I really am sorry that it has been so long since my last post.  As I continued to do outreach in Africa, I had less and less time to spend searching out a source of internet.  I really had no idea that it's been this long since my last post.
As for my experience in Africa, I learned very much there and feel greatly bless to have had that experience.  As of now, it is quite obvious to me by the Lord's leading, that I am to live in the US for some time and engage the western culture with the hope of the Gospel of Jesus.  Please pray for me in this as I am seeking employment and a place to plug in.  I desire to be intentional regarding the Gospel wherever I go, so I'm seeking God's will in this decision.  I will write more when I have time as I do plan to continue using this blog from time to time to update people with my activities (however unexciting they may be).  Thanks for all you're prayers and encouragement and check back soon for more!
